Alright, so I've been trying to find an answer to this but I'm still confused... Can you take a class at a community college over the summer and have it count as one of your "preparation for major" classes? As I understand it, courses taken at community colleges won't go towards your gpa, and you can transfer credit for g.e. classes, but I can't seem to find any concrete info about taking prep for major classes at a cc.

yah… ur exactly correct. Take Community college course for ur pre-req will count towards getting credit but it won’t give u any units + won’t effect GPA

I don’t know about the college of L&S, but for HSSEAS, after 105 units, you can’t get credit for CC classes. (has to be a 4 year college)

The info you’re looking for is at [Transfer Credit from Non-UCLA Summer Sessions - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/transfer_credit/trcrss.htm)

According to that page, they do allow CC units to count towards prep in your major since they say
If units after 105 quarter units still satisfy subject requirements, it seems reasonable to conclude that units before 105 do as well. But if you want complete peace of mind, give the school a call.

Use ASSIST, with care, it’s all there.

Hey that rhymes
