taking classes at cal cc before freshman year

could I take 2 maybe 3 classes at a community college at home the summer after sr year and before matriculating as a freshman?

Would this be effective in getting rid of certain requirements, or do they not transfer well

Bah, I don't see what the craze is all about to get loads of classes out of the way before college. If you're looking at graduating a quarter or so late then I can understand taking summer classes to finish on time, but you haven't even started UCLA yet!

Just get to UCLA first and enjoy college and the classes here, forget about finishing college before you even start.

I just figure if I van get stiff out of the way for 24 bucks a unit, and escape a possibly troublesome ge or something?

The craze is about possibly saving tens of thousands of dollars...

NOT an overstatement.

thats what i should have done..ges are a pain to fit into my schedule

Or you can take classes at UCLA for summer :)

I mean, people graduate from UCs in three years fairly often from what I know. The cost of a UC education is like $24,000 a year and lost wages from time that could be spent working.

If you have a freshman scholarship make sure you will not lose it by doing this. CC classes plus APs could make you a transfer student instead of a freshman. We were warned about this at a presentation at my Ds school. It may not be the case but ask to make sure.
