Taking classes at local community college...

Hello,

I am unhappy with the lack of variety of classes at my high school, so I am planning on taking classes at the local community college as part of their dual enrollment program.

However, one of my friends has told me that if I take too many classes, when I go to college, I may be considered a transfer student and not an incoming freshman. Unfortunately, he heard this from a friend of his, so he does not have much information.

Could anyone help? Thanks

why don’t you ask someone at teh CC or a few of your prospective colleges

It depends. As an incoming freshman, you can only transfer so many credits to your new school. At my school, it’s 7 units (7 classes). This obviously includes AP credit and college credit. Whereas a transfer student can transfer alot more credit. I don’t think dual enrollment would allow you to apply as a transfer student, or be seen as one. If combined AP and dual enrollment courses you got more credits than you were allowed to transfer as a freshman, then you would just have to pick and choose which credits you would want to apply.
