Hello, I am in Community College planning to major in Economics and Accounting by transferring to UC. I will take all of my GE classes and Micro/Macroeconomics (major preparation) classes at De Anza/Foothill College.
For major preparation, I will take a 5-unit Financial Accounting class at West Valley College and a 5-unit Calculus II class at Evergreen Valley College.
Will this hurt my chances of transferring?
Why not take financial accounting class and calculus 2 at your current CC? The only problem will be trying to get a spot in one of those classes at the other. Another will be cost, Are you willing to spend triple the amount to take three classes in three CC?
Hello, I forgot to mention that I would like to take more online courses and other schools have better courses than others. For getting registered, I have already registered for an Financial Accounting class at WVC. EVC has better teachers for Calculus II and is closer to my home.
For costs, if I am doing this for one session only, the costs aren’t that high. Also, at De Anza, I am currently receiving free college for a year and with my current plan at De Anza, I would have 52-units under my belt for free by this Summer.
For prerequisites, none of the classes I am planning above will have prerequisites that require me to communicate between colleges.
From what I’ve gotten out of UC reps, they don’t seem to care. However, some private schools may care and you might have to explain why you’re doing this…
I’ve been in a similar situation and I’m also applying to transfer this year so good luck!!
Thanks for all of your replies.
