Taking Classes Pass/Fail

<p>When is it good to do it? I have one GE left (Cat 4), and will be taking 5 classes total - a bit of a load.</p>

<p>Also, is it something where I can switch to pass fail after the first few weeks if it seems demanding?</p>

<p>It varies. But for GE’s, you can take up to 1 GE pass/fail, as long as it is not Writ140 or Writ340. I believe for most majors you can not take major classes pass/fail. But you SHOULD be able to take elective classes pass/fail. Not sure if there’s a limit per semester you can take pass/fail.</p>

Pass/No Pass Graded Work
A maximum of 24 units of undergraduate course work taken on a pass/no pass basis may be used toward an undergraduate degree and a maximum of 4 of these 24 units may be applied to the general education requirements. WRIT 130, WRIT 140 and WRIT 340 will not fulfill undergraduate writing requirements if taken on a Pass/No Pass (P/NP) basis.</p>

<p>Use of Pass/No Pass course work to fulfill major requirements must be approved in writing by the academic department. Course work required for a minor may not be taken on a P/NP basis. Individual academic departments may have placed further restrictions on whether a course taken on a Pass/No Pass basis can be used to fulfill specific requirements.
