Taking Community College to Transfer to a Mid/Top College

I am a California high school junior with a UC GPA of 3.03 so far. I over-extended myself with rigorous courses (3 honors courses, 3 APs so far). I come from an ultra-competitive high school. I want to go to at least a mid-tier UC school (preferably UC Santa Barbara or UC Irvine). I do not have my SAT and SAT II subject test scores yet. I wish to major in Biology. I have a basic understanding of my local CC’s TAG program.

Is going to community college a safe option? Is there a substantial risk in getting rejected even if I work hard? Is it possible to be rejected from the TAG program?

You will have to make a high enough college GPA to transfer to a more selective school (TAG or otherwise).

The UC transfer route is a great way to go!
