Taking courses at community college to boost chances?

I’m currently a high school sophomore and my mom is a dean at Northern Essex community college and I’m thinking of taking courses there over the summer (I’m pretty sure I get a discount).
College-wise, I’m aiming for the most selective schools. I have the grades and my psat score was high. So, I’m wondering if taking these courses will benefit me in the admissions process, and if the credits will transfer over. I also just want a slightly lighter course load in college. Do you think it’s worth it?

Taking college courses will show initiative, so yes, it will help. Transferring credits depends on the school, you would have to check each individual course with each individual school. Generally, the amount of credit you can enter with will be very limited at the most selective schools, so taking a lighter course load may not be possible.
