Taking courses during summer?

Hi people,

I assume it's possible to take courses and try to get some credits during summer right?

I'm thinking of registering just to be able to feel what the academic and social life is like before going there in this August.

Could anyone please tell me where I can find more information?

Thanks!

Google is your friend. “Duke Summer Session”.

Do not do this. If you are an incoming student, you will be miserable over summer school. There’s not many students there, and the ones that are will be upperclassmen in their own social groups. You won’t really be able to make good friends, have the freshman experience, all that kind of stuff. It’s just… not worth it. Noone does it, its absolutely not necessary.

braaap speaks the truth. just arrive with the rest of the frosh, and do things the way they’re meant to be done.

Wholeheartedly agree with the other two. If you don’t have friends with you over the summer, you WILL be miserable. I lived with a bunch of friends and had the best of times. If they hadn’t been around, I know I’d have been miserably bored for sure since everything that made the summer fun had to do with the fact that good friends were living next door and a floor above me. I can’t imagine living by myself on Central with no friends when I hadn’t experienced Duke during the regular school year.
