Taking CS 61AS

Hi,

I have couple of questions about CS 61AS.

Is the class completely interchangeable with CS 61A?
Is it P/NP or can you also take it for a letter grade?
And since it's a self-paced class, is the work/quizzes based on accurate completion like the other one unit CS classes?
Do you have to choose how many units of work you'll complete at the beginning of the course or is it up to you at any point in the course to decide how many units you want to complete first semester(min. 2)?

Thanks.

This link might answer some of your questions: http://www-inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/~cs61as/su12/#grades</a></p>

The descriptions are for last year but I’m guessing the gist is the same. I’m also still curious how sign-up works on Telebears as far as units go. Is there a default unit value for a variable course?

i’m just wondering if you have to sign up for a fixed # of units when you sign up for CS 61AS (thus knowing how much work you’ll be putting in the self-paced class in advance).

does anyone also know what language CS 61A/61AS will be taught in? (is it still scheme?)

^Python I thought?

@Sagert: A student who worked on the 61AS curriculum said you can sign up for 1 unit on Telebears to begin with. Instructors can then raise it up accordingly. 61AS will be taught in Scheme

Read this:
[What’s Going On with 61A?](http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~bh/61a.html)

61AS is in Scheme. The textbook will be the Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (SICP), which is a quite famous “classic” textbook.
61A is in Python. The textbook is one that was written by Berkeley faculty and is based on SICP, but for the Python language.

This is a result of having different sets of instructors.
