Would it look better to take a BS AP such as AP Psych or Human Geo., or take a AP such as Comp Sci, even if you have taken it previously but did not take the test for it (since my school does 2 years before the test). Keep in mind that Comp Sci is actually my 3rd year since I took 1st year of C++ and Java, w/o a 2nd year knowledge in either. Which is more impressive on the transcript??

Orrrrr, if neither of those are impressive enough, would taking something like Honors Exercise Physiology or Adv. Bio 3-4 look better?? (Adv. Bio 3-4 is lower than AP Bio, which I am already taking, but is also sort of on the side, where we learn survival skills and such) Thanks!!

haha that adv bio sounds like a boyscout class...

personally, i think the BS ap classes look better on the transcript than taking the same class again. you appear to have an interest in compsci, and taking it twice shows 1) you're one-dimensional and dont pursue diverse interests; 2) you screwed up in some way the first time. while neither of these are probably true, you don't want to give the readers of your transcript any doubts.

what you could do instead though...maybe you could self-study compsci, and take the AP test this may.

once again, this is only my personal opinion.

how is AP psych a BS class and AP computer science not...is it just me or does psych seem to be a bit more rigorous...I might be totally wrong, my school is horrible and only offers 3 AP's, all of which aren't taught unless enough people sign up...honestly I hate it..

Let me elbaborate: in AP phychology you read the book, memorize a few names and facts and you are all set. AB Computer schience, on the other hand, requires a quite profound background in programming, and great problem-solving skills. So my point is that AP psych is much easier to do well in. In my school a bunch of people take AP phych, even a girl to whom i tutor physics, who does not know how to find the area of a f**ken trapezoid, is in phych and does well. On the other hand, there are like 6 people (you guessed it - males) in ABComp Sci, and they are hard core math and science people. Bottom line - to do well in Psych - you have to be able to read; to do well in AP comp science you have to be very smart.

vladimir, you describe psych like an easy class, but it's not (at least not at my school)

psych is a lot of work first semester. you move fast through the book, memorizing specifics of the brain and its function, comprehending teh many different theories and analysing different people and their school's of thought. in between, there are many mini-studies, often which (would) require (if you want honest data) you to go out and survey/test people, most of which are children. as for tests, i can pass every one of them with a 10 pt curve (ap psych is ruining my chances for high honor roll, i have A's in all my other subjects, 4 aps in all). tests involve alot of analysis on presented senarios. however, the occasional paper assigned is easy if you try to try on it. i'm now managing a B because of my 94% thesis :D

vladimir pretty much has compsci down. you have to have a good foundation with Basic. java is similar to other languages, and because you know C++, you should do fine.

as to whichever is more impressive, depends on what you want to do. i'm engineering, but i'm taking both classes. psych, because it sounded like a really cool class (and it is for the most part) and compsci, because my schedule would be too empty otherwise
