Taking Econ 140 before 100B

Hi everyone. I'm currently taking Econ 100A and trying to plan out my schedule for Spring..

I'm trying to take 140 right now because 100B is conflicting with another class I want to take. As far as I've heard, you don't really need to know 100B material to do 140. But I see that schedulebuilder lists 100A-100B as prereqs. Do you think it is still possible for me to take 140? Will they check if I have taken 100B?

Thanks!

You can take Economics 101B instead of 100B.

They won’t check and it’s not needed.

Great! Hopefully I can work this schedule out somehow…

Isn’t that the much harder mathematical track though? I haven’t taken Math 53 or 54 so I don’t know how well I could do.

Economics 101B lists only Math 1A and 1B as math prerequisites (as opposed to Math 1A or 16A for Economics 100B).

Ah, I see. So it should be doable. I was under the impression it would be the same case as 101A.

Thanks!

You can take 140 before 100B. 140 does not really use anything from 100B.

If you are comparing between 100B and 101B, I would say there is not really a big difference… 101B is not heavily math-based like 101A.
