I'm in the College of Letters and Sciences, and I'm going to be majoring in science. Can I take classes in HSSEAS if I become interested in certain topics in engineering while not transferring schools or double majoring? Also, if I can take classes in HSSEAS, would they be limited to the introductory courses, or would I be allowed to take upper division courses, provided I have fulfilled the prereqs?

I'm asking this because I'm pretty interested in technology and I like to know about how things work, but I'm in L&S ( I know I can transfer; this question is based on the condition that I don't transfer).

Thanks.

im pretty sure for courses in engineering you need to be in HSSEAS to take it, my roommate tried to take CS31 last quarter and URSA won't let him

all engineering courses are restricted to specific majors or to just engineers, lower-div or otherwise...or at least that's what i gathered after poking around the registrar a bit. non-engineering majors have the "engineering schoolwide programs" to choose classes from (shows up as just "engineering" on the schedule of classes).

Now why would you want to do that? Just grab a book on the subject, read and do the problems at the end of each chapter. Seriously, sometimes there's no point in going to lecture. However, you can try to go to the professor's office hours to ask questions/chat. Some of them are actually nice and want students to pop in. Oh, and you don't need to be enrolled to attend the lectures. Just a thought.
