<p>I believe you can’t. I think it only works if you’ve taken writing at a CC before applying to UCI.</p>
<p>I am a current first year UCI Electrical Engineering student at UCI.</p>
<p>Last year, I heard from the engineering counselor that they recommend taking english/writing courses at a CC before coming to UCI as a freshman and the engineering department accepts the credit. If it is another department, then I would ask the academic counselors before taking courses at a CC. But, you will need to taking all Writing requirements at UCI when Fall Quarter begins, so if you want to take Writing at a CC, you should enroll the summer before attending UCI.</p>
<p>Any non-major courses to fufill GE other than Writing requirements can be taken a CC anytime, I believe.</p>
