Taking five classes in the spring with writing seminar

I'm a freshman who is thinking about taking five classes next semester. I was almost sure about taking five but almost everyone that I talked with (including my adviser) strongly advised against taking five classes because one of them is a writing seminar and the spring semester is supposedly harder than the fall. Is this really impossible? I know it depends on the classes... For what it's worth, I'm expecting one of them to be relatively easy.

Does anyone have any experience/advice with regard to taking five classes with writing sem in the spring?

Thanks in advance!

Very possible, but it depends on the classes you’re taking. Since your writing seminar is in the spring, I would seriously consider taking 5 classes in the fall and doing 4 in the spring.

I took 5 classes with writing sem in the spring. It was rough, but it was only due to the time-consuming nature of the courses. Also, I’m a REALLY slow writer. If you’ve light-ish classes, go for it.

Wouldn’t it be much simpler to make this choice based on how you did in the Fall semester?

If you’re getting a 4.0 with 4 classes, it’ll be a smooth transition to 5 classes. If you’re staying up all night and getting straight Bs, you might want to reconsider. Etc.
