Taking food to go?

Lets say you wake up not long before your first class starts, and you want to swing by a dining hall the grab some breakfast and take it with you? Would this be possible? I remember during orientation, we'd have to leave our bags outside or in lockers before we could even come into the dining hall.

I asked someone, and they said you can't bring food "to go," but I saw someone on this forum say that you could. What's the real deal?

You can go to BruinCafe or Rendevous to get a packed “breakfast” (of your choice. (It’s not that much, but get you through the day. Sorta.

I heard there’s something that De Neve does, but I don’t live on that side, so I don’t know any specifics. Something like a packed lunch?

Alternatively, you can just bring in some ziplocks and wear a huge jacket so you can sneak out some food. Hahaha, but I think that’s too much effort in the morning.

De Neve does sack lunch. Basically, you’re given a lunchbag at the beginning of the year. You bring that to De Neve and say you want a sack lunch. They swipe you for lunch and you make a sandwich, pick a side, and grab a drink (if I remember correctly, might be somewhat different).

Lol, so that’s what that lunchbag is for?

Covel does sack lunches too. Apparently you can do them even if you aren’t on premiere, but it does take two swipes.

That is such a rip off and all you can get is a sandwich, a snack and a drink! You can eat as much as you want to if you eat in and it only costs one swipe. How does that make sense?

…then that makes getting coffee or a smoothie an über rip-off

you got that right!

Sorry I need to clarify; I meant it costs two swipes because they would be swiping once for breakfast and once for “packed lunch”. Since it’d be difficult to police you to ensure you only get lunch, you get swiped for both meals.

Actually, they only swipe you once for the sacked lunch if you don’t plan on getting breakfast. They’ll take your Bruin Card as collateral and give you ten minutes to make your sandwich, grab fruit, etc. You can pick up your Bruin Card when you’re done.

also it’s not just a sandwich, snack, and drink. it’s whatever you can fit inside the bag. so more like 5 sandwiches lol

^ Is this for real? Or more along the lines of as long as you don’t get caught?

(BTW, the bag is still referring to that lunchbag given to us at the beginning of the year, right?)

So one swipe and eat as much as you want? sounds sweet…
