So I took 3 years of French in high school but stopped taking it after sophomore year (took it in 8th, 9th, and 10th)...now I am thinking of taking it again this Fall and was going to register for FRE 1180 (Elem. French Review & Progress) but it isn't on ISIS so I signed up for FRE 1182 which is the accelerated version but I'm scared it's going to be too fast paced...
Has anyone taken it?? And if so, how hard is it??

Have you taken the SAT II French placement test? I’m pretty sure you have to take it if you want to continue with your high school foreign language. Your score on that will be a better indicator of which class you should take.

no i haven’t taken the SAT II but I probably should i guess.
thanks!

If I haven’t had any French in high school, I am not allowed to take FRE 1182? The course description says that it combines FRE 1130 and 1132, so I figured that if I was good at learning languages I would be able to take it. Is this correct?

mathsciencedude, I would talk to someone in the French department because during the first week of classes, the French instructors pass out this form you have to fill out about your French background and whether you’ve taken the SAT II placement test. I’m pretty sure they will drop you from the class if you are signed up for it and haven’t taken the test or talked to someone.

^Thanks for the info. I’m not registering for French this year, so I want to know how to accelerate my studies.
