My school only offers World History Honors, as opposed to AP. The class does vary with teachers, and books used, but I was wondering if anybody had experience taking Honors World and then studying out of a book to take the AP Exam? A lot of people swear by the Princeton Review book – should I buy that, even though I’m taking the course, just in a less rigorous form? Or should I attempt some practice tests and see where I am?

This probably isn’t relevant, but the only other AP test I’m taking next year is Physics B, so I will have time to do some studying for the test outside of class. And I’m a sophomore.

My school only offered AP World as an elective, so I had to double it with World II. Pretty much, I got most of the content from World II and the AP Textbook/Review book. (I.E. the class is not necessarily required to do well) The only thing I would stress is finding a good History teacher (If you’re school offers AP Euro, or definitely an AP US teacher) to review your Essays, time your writing, and give you constructive criticism.

My school offers both honors and AP. I took AP but I know someone who took honors and then the AP test without any prep or essay skills and got a 3. so yes it’s doable.

my Honors World history class was just a survey class that could never prepare for AP so check with the teachers for the curriculum to see if self-study accompaniment is doable.

The Princeton review book is crap. Halfway through the review book, I realized how vague the content is. Barron’s flashcards are good, but textbook outlines are best.
