Can anyone here answer whether it is permissible to sit an IB exam at a school other than one's own. There's a chance that I'll be traveling near one of the days that an exam is scheduled for, and it would be good to know if I need to be back home.

IB tests are not like AP. They are intrinsically tied to the class, thus, I doubt you can take it at another school. You will probably have to talk to your school and see what arrangements must be made. They may make you take the test early, or maybe later.

I’m an IB student and I can say almost 100% that you can’t. This is because IB exam’s aren’t like AP exams as the previous poster said. In IB, there’s a component separate from the exam called the Internal Assessment (IA) that’s marked by the school. For example, in any HL science, the internal assessment requires you do at least 60 hours of labwork within the course. So unless you actually take the course I don’t think you’ll be able to take the exam.

EDIT: Also, @Jalmoreno, I’ve heard that there are no early or late tests for IB, unlike AP which has a late testing session.

The question was specifically with regard to an external assessment paper. However, I checked the Vade Mecum, and it says that students must be registered at the school for which they sit the external assessment papers. So, if need be, I’ll be hightailing it across the continent. Fun.

Oh wow, sorry, I COMPLETELY read that question wrong. I realized my post is completely irrelevant now :P
