I am taking the SAT IIs in November. I have been led to believe that this is fine for Columbia as long as I get the scores rushed. However, I am a bit confused about the application. I still turn it in on November 1st, right? What if they read my application before the scores get there? Will they automatically reject me? Should I add a note to my application telling them about my circumstance?

i am in the same situation. sucks.

^it's common to get scores later, that's if they allow nov SATs, they won't discriminate, i doubt their impression of you would change based on SAT 2 scores, perhaps they set all the SAT 'not yet received' aside and evalute them when they get scores, but i wouldn't worry sending an 'incomplete' picture.

I was talking to a Columbia rep a few days ago, and she said that you should attach a note telling them to watch out for your November score - but don't worry, they will consider the scores. The Columbia admissions website also warned against rush reporting.

I applied ED last year and took my sat2s in november; same situation as you guys. They got them the last week of november, like 10 days before the decisions went out on december 7th. You guys are fine, just take them, send them in, and make sure that they appear on your online tracking in due time, otherwise columbia might not have received them. Whatever you do though, dont rush the scores; doing so will send them in paper form which columbia wont consider.

Why don't they consider paper scores? That doesn't really makes sense to me...but you say the scores come out online on time before the ED decisions are finalized? So do I just give them the username/pass to my SAT account? Online it says scores come out Nov. 20th which gives them and me plenty of time, but I just don't understand why they wouldn't want paper scores.

In the same vein...if they don't want paper scores, is it also true that they don't want paper teacher recs, counselor reports, etc.?

"Please do not utilize the “rush” service in sending your test scores to Columbia; doing so does not speed up the processing of your test scores. We obtain all testing via a secure Web site to which we are provided access by the appropriate testing agency."

Straight off columbias website. Also, you dont give columbia your username/password for collegeboard; when you take the sat you are asked what schools you want to send your scores to. You should put the respective numbers for SEAS or CC depending. All this you can find on the link above. Finally, although scores are released Nov 20, for me at least, it took about a week for columbia to confirm that they received them via the online admissions tracking site. The point is, dont worry about it, just take the tests and send them in.

For the SAT IIs, they only use an online system to retrieve the scores; for the reports, they have another online system for that too but you can still send it in paper form.

How would you go about attaching a "note" that you're going to take the sat ii's in nov...I'm submitting online

I'm applying ED too. I took the SAT and the subjects, but I decided to take the ACT too ( on the 27th ). Will my scores be reported on time ?

I'm in the same predicament. I'm applying early to Columbia, and haven't taken the SAT II's due to financial reasons. I plan on taking them either November or December, although I hope to take them in Novemeber so that they can get to Columbia on time. Does anyone have a definite answer as to whether taking the Novemeber SAT II's will qualify for ED? Where could someone put the note that you haven't taken the test but plan to in November?

Thanks, and good luck!

same question as zachsta...how're you supposed to attach a note...
