Taking less than the full course load?

This semester I’m planning to take 3 courses instead of what people normally do (which is 4)… Do you think this would jeopardize my chance of successfully transferring? Or should I find another course to add?

How many units are the classes? How hard are they?
You can have a hard course load with only 3 classes.
Example: Next semester I’m only taking 3 classes: Calc 1 Honors, Spanish 1 Honors & English Honors. That’s 14 units in harder classes but only 3 classes.
So it depends.
Also are you doing any ECs on the side?

It really depends on the circumstances. I’m in my last semester of CC, and I’m only taking three classes this semester. Physics 3 Honors, Calc 3 Honors, and Intermediate Spanish 2. I’m only taking three classes this semester because that’s really all that I have left to take that will go toward my bachelors. I’m transferring to UIUC in the fall, and the only GenEd courses that I’ll have left to take are a Non-Western Cultures requirement, an advanced composition course that has to be taken on the UIUC campus 99% of the time, and an introductory computer programming course. I’m majoring in physics, and there aren’t any math or physics electives I can take to fill my schedule up. I wanted to take the programming class at my CC this semester, but there was a scheduling conflict with my physics class. There’s only one section of each of these two classes, and clearly the physics class is more crucial given that it’s my major.

I could have just picked a random class to take to fill my schedule up, but I chose to just take the three classes so I can pick up some more hours working (at the campus tutoring lab), and spend more time focus on honors projects with more depth.
