Taking Math16B after Math1A

Hey CC,

I am a freshman and a premed. I was inititally thinking about majoring in MCB, which is why I enrolled in math 1a, but now, I do not think I am doing very well in the class. I haven't taken calculus before. I might end up with a B- or a C+! So, I was thinking, do you guys know if I can take Math 16B after 1A? I do not care if I get less units, what worries me is, will medical schools accept the change? Have any of you been through this before?

Thank you!

i know u CAN take it. but idk anything else.

I’m not pre-med, so I can’t remark on that.

But if they do accept that, do it. I strugged in Math 1A, took Math 16B, and it was a cakewalk.

Thanks clueless2400 and RaNe!

I have two questions for you RaNe,

Did you take Math 1a fall semsester for a letter grade and then math 16b second semsester? Also, had you taken calculus before? I think that now I am better off because I know about derivatives, limits, and all of that so maybe it will help in math 16B.

Thanks!

Yes to both questions.

I got a C in Math 1A and an A in Math 16B. Apart from having the first semester struggles, I never got the hang of proofs. Math 16B is straightforward, and if you do your work and stay on top of it, you’ll do well.

Thank you very much for this value info RaNe!
I appreciate it!

No prob!
Hope that takes some burden off your back.

I wish all classes were like that.
