Taking more time

The final deadlines for applying for the Fall 2006 semester/quarter is almost passed and that leaves hardly any time to even move in to a place. Because of the lack of time and a lack of wide varieties for me so far, I'm probably going to end up waiting until a next semester/quarter to start. Is there something wrong about waiting past what would be the considered "normal" time to start?

I think I need to do a lot more research and give myself more time to get to know what I want. The only problem is that I don't want to be bored for 4 or however many months. I need to still be having fun and having a life. I'd obviously work on my college research to try and make the right decision for me. I want a great education but also an intersting and exciting life. I don't want to be stuck paying back huge loans. I want to travel and experience exciting things.

I'd also take some trips to different places. I know I'd be visiting a Grandpa in Birmingham and others in West Virginia. But also a trip somewhere else for my graduation present. Does anyone have any advice for that time period to keep myself happy?

Well first of all most applications that I've seen will ask you to account for any periods of time that you weren't in school other than summers... so make sure you do something productive other than research colleges and visit family. You can probably find some jobs/internships that are related to what you want to study... and if you're concerned about the cost of education a job would help you with that.

As for ideas to make you happy... is there anyplace you've really wanted to visit? Take advantage of the oppertunity especially if it's a graduation present and you don't have to pay for it. ; )

And if you want to travel and experience exciting things... have you considered majoring in something that will let you do this while you're working? (i.e. journalism, photography, foreign relations, politics, etc...)
