Taking Multivariable Calculus over the summer

Hi everyone,

I am graduating high school this year and was thinking about taking multivariable calculus over the summer at a local college. I am a good student and I enjoy math very much. I plan on majoring in either civil engineering of applied math so I feel like taking this class for college credit would be beneficial in that I would have a bit of a head start. What do you think? Is college level multivariable a whole different ballgame compared to BC calc? Also, would having AB, BC, and potentially calc III under my belt be beneficial or would it be smart to retake them in college to solidify my understanding? Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated!

I don’t know the current stat, but a few years ago only about 2-3% of HS students took Calc BC. I don’t see the need to rush thru Multivariable before college. Even if you start in Calc 2 or 3 you ill be ahead of the pack in most colleges.
