Taking My First AP!

Next year, for my junior year, I will be taking AP Lang. I just have a couple of questions about the course. This will be my first AP class ever.

I really don't like reading that much for school because they always assign boring books. How are the books that you had to read for the class?

Is the class itself hard or just time consuming?

Is there more writing or reading over the course of the year?

And how is the exam itself?

Thanks, I know answers may differ because of different teachers, but any input is appreciated.

Hmmm what did I have to read for AP Language? Let me think… AP Lang is supposed to be pretty much non-fiction but we read some fiction too:
Desert Solitaire (Nonfiction): Awful! There is literally a chapter titled “Rocks”. It’s boring.
Their Eyes Were Watching God (Fiction): The phonetic spelling that all the characters use when they talk takes a bit of getting used to but the book is interesting! It’s romantic too which I love <3
Down and Out in Paris and London (Nonfiction?): It was okay. It hypnotized me into reading it in only 2 sittings.
Slaughterhouse Five: Great book! It was really interesting and unlike any other book you’ll read in an English class.
There were some other books but I forgot what they were. I’ll come back and tell you if I remember! We did have to read a lot of essays though, like “A Modest Proposal”, “Politics and the English Language”, “On Dumpster Diving”, and some essay written in 1992 about the Mall of America claiming that gigantic malls are going to take over the world. (This has not happened yet, which makes the essay funny!)

The class is not very hard, just time consuming. Although there’s a lot of subjective answers, which gets a bit annoying.

About the reading/writing Q: Is this an either/or question or a yes/no question? If the first option, equal parts I guess? If the second option, yes.

The exam was decent. The essay topics for us were easy - I literally quoted Lady Gaga and talked about goth kids in one of my essays and they still gave me a 5!
