Taking online classes

I am currently in my spring semester and I am starting to hate my college more and more. I really want to get out of here, being here makes me depressed. I feel that I'm back in high school and there is no way to escape the immature people. I was wondering if I would be able to take online classes through one of the schools in my city. If that is possible how do I go about that process?

If it’s a CC, you usually register for online classes the same way you’d register for normal ones. Find classes you want/need which are offered online, and sign up for them. Easy as that. After that, it’ll be through some sort of class website.

Or are you talking about a different school or an extension program?

Personally I’ve always been disappointed with online CC classes… as much as physical classes might feel high school-ish, I always found online to be worse, and generally a bit shallow. But maybe you’ll have better luck, I’m sure it varies.

Bump

Anyone?

I am not sure I understand what you need input on.

Why do you need anyone’s input for taking an online class? Either you take it or you don’t depending on the availability of the classes you need.

Is there a broader question that you have not asked?

Do you mean taking them in lieu of what you’re doing right now? Or in addition to your in-person classes?

Online classes can be very tough. You have to be quite diligent and read through things carefully. Also, you lack that face-to-face interaction with faculty and fellow students, so it’s harder to get those “aha!” moments and to feel as if you’re part of something grander than just some crummy requirement.

Taking online courses depends on the person and their goals. If you’re having problems liking your school and feeling like it’s distinct from high school, then I’d think that online courses might hinder and isolate you even further.

However, it’s all on you, so just dig deep and figure out what it is that you truly want.
