Taking only 2 years of foreign language

How much would this hurt me when applying to top colleges?
Right now I am a sophomore in Spanish III....I don't really want to take Spanish IV, but I still want to remain competitive for those colleges.

Since its “Spanish III” it’s more like 3 years, so you should be fine, but unless you really, really hate Spanish, you should take it again.

I don’t think it counts as 3 years because I took Spanish I in 8th grade. Plus, I can’t add Spanish I to my transcript because it was from a different school (I moved).

And it says “high school” under foreign language recommendations for those colleges.

I think you should go ahead and take Spanish IV, I don’t know what exactly you mean by Top Schools But, I know that even UNC Chapel Hill that is like top 30 recommends at least 3 years. and Duke that is Top 10 likes to see people talking 4 years.
So, I would take Spanish IV, but since you have done Spanish 3 already, I think you wouldn’t be hurt if you didn’t take it. It would only slightly help you.
Justt my opinion.

Take Spanish IV. It is okay to drop Spanish for senior year if you are going to add a second AP in history, English, math, or science, but two years only of a language would be looked down upon…
