taking practice lsat

Hey, I'm taking a practice LSAT this weekend with no idea what to expect.
I bet a friend several cases of beer that I'd get a higher score.
Any basic pointers?

Standardized Tests are all about preparation.

While you'll never make above a certain score if you max out your abilities, you can do terribly if you don't prepare.

Yes. In the logical reasoning section, read each question literally. When they say, "What can you determine from this," they are not asking you to extrapoloate. They are asking you to almost parrot the facts back at them. Ditto for the reading "comprehension" section - I started doing better once I realized that they weren't looking for analysis so much as basic facts.

(As much as this might seem counter-intuitive, it's not. A fair amount of law is knowning what you don't know - i.e. what you can and cannot infer from a certain set of facts.)

Ariesathena very well said. I've been taking practice tests for a while now (Just using the books that have old exams in them) and have noticed just that. On the last practice test I took I missed several questions because I was seeking a more complicated answer than was needed. A few times the answer was clearly stated, but I over thought the situation. Make sure that you don't over think simple questions.

Speed is the most important factor IMO.

seriously, i never ran out of time on sat (and got a 1580), but lsat really kills you for time because questions just make you think a lot on each
