Taking prereqs before applying to grad school

I’m a non-computer science major who wants to apply to a CS master’s program in the future, and intends to take some prerequisite math and CS courses in the meantime.

Does it generally matter where these prereqs are taken when applying to grad school? Would taking them at a community college weaken my application compared to taking it at a 4-year university? Or does it just matter that I get them done?

Start at community college. You might find that some of the prerequisites for the program you want are not available there and you will have to take them at a 4-year., Alternatively, the graduate program might have a software engineering “boot camp” for students like you.
