As I mentioned in a previous post, I am currently in algebra 2 (regular) but would like to jump to Honors Precalc/Trig next year. It is an option for me to take one semester (or both) of regular precalculus over the summer to try to prepare myself for the honors track, as it would essentially help me get a head start by introducing me to the concepts before taking the actual honors class. The summer class would count as an actual credit, but I should be able to replace it with the honors credit if I follow through. It’s an option, but I was unsure as how helpful it would actually be. I’ve talked to my guidance counselor and he didn’t seem very concerned but said it was up to me. As for my summer schedule, I should be able to manage a one-semester class without it interfering with summer plans too much. Sorry if that was confusing.
Basically, should I take regular precalc (one semester) over the summer to prepare me for Honors, or would it be a waste of time?
It’s really up to you. I would personally find it very helpful to prepare by doing that, so it is your call. If you think this will help you, I totally recommend you do it if you have the time in the summer to.
Have a good day!
It might be useful, but I don’t think it’s necessary.
Since you’re going from regular to honors in the fall, it may help you get a head start.
