Taking required english class on Spring before transfer, bad idea?

I hate English classes, missing 1 of the required English class( critical thinking and writing).

Taking it this coming Spring semester, would this hurt my admittance chance? (UCM,UCSC,UCR,UCI,UCD)

I had this dilemma too with math and english classes. I asked and I was told that it would affect your chances, because it is favored that transfers complete their english and math requirements before they apply so that they are considered more “competitive”.

As long as we complete it after the end of Spring 2013, does it really make a difference?

Not for most of those schools. You’ll be fine at UCSC, UCD, UCM and UCR. I’m not sure about UCI. Definitely have it done for UCSB, UCSD, and UCLA. Some people have said that UCB does not care, but I have my doubts.

I seeee. How huge of a factor is it, compared to GPA and pre-reqs?

I can speak on UCSB. They’re very strict on having English and Math done by the end of Fall. I saw last year’s people on here be rejected for not having it done by Fall.

I’m not too sure about UCSC or UCR, but UCLA UCSB UCSD definitely want them done before spring. The UCSB rep told me It’s just a way for them to select more competitive students when they have big capacity of applications.

Yeah, talked to a guy that was rejected by UCSD because of this. Was admitted to UCLA though.

2nd English class by end of spring is fine for UCI.
