Taking SAT 5 times?

Is this a bad idea. I plan on applying to 1-2 ivies and top 30 schools. However, most of the ones I am applying to superscore. I started out with a 1940 SAT and improved it to a 1980 on my second try. I know that with studying I can improve it to around 2200+ but it will take me a few tries. My individual subsection scores tend to fluctuate so I figure that taking it up to three more times would give me my best superscore. Will colleges look down on this, even though most of the ones I am applying to will only see my superscore? If I know I can improve my score each time, what's the disadvantage?

Taking it 5 times could potentially make you look too much like a grade-grubber. I suggest just studying for a few months to get the score that you want in one more try. I studied for 2-3 months and got the score that I wanted on my first try.

I know what you’re saying but if they are only going to see my superscore than isn’t it ok?

yeah exactly, u can take it 5 times and just send 2 of ur best ones for superscore.

Well, as long as they let you use score choice so you can send your best two then that would be fine.

I second Apoc314. But a word of warning: most Ivies may superscore; however, they usually want to see all of your standardized testing.
