Taking SAT after applications

Hey. I'm a junior and during the last few months I've gotten increasingly fed up with high school, and now I've decided that I desperately want to get out. So I want to graduate this year and apply to colleges right now (yeah...not much time left....whatever, I'll deal).

The only problem is that most of the schools I'm interested in require the SAT I and/or ACT for admissions - and I've done really well on all the practice tests I've taken and PSATs - but I hadn't been counting on taking the SAT until early 2008 since I was going to apply to college my senior year. I realize the deadline for most schools is January 15th, but is this a deadline for just the applications forms/essays, or absolutely everything? I thought maybe some schools would accept the January 26th SAT because after all, they don't ask for financial aid applications until a month or so after the application deadline...do some schools accept this? Or do I absolutely need everything in by Jan. 15th? Also, if I could take the tests a bit later, would the Feb. 9th ACT be too late (since they need to make a decision by March or April)?

If anyone knows about this, I would greatly appreciate any information! If I can't do this, I might just wait until next year (though I'm not sure how I can...I hate school SO much!) - my no-SAT-required options are basically Bard and Hampshire, both wonderful schools, but who wants two options?

you could standby for tomorrow's SAT if you feel prepared.

Really? I thought you needed to register a few weeks in advance. It's too bad I have two shows tomorrow (school musical - I'm 'cellist). Wish I had known that.

Alternatively, the ACT is offered next Saturday 12/8 -- I'm not sure if they allow standby testing.

Good luck.

I'm pretty sure the ACT has standby

The ACT has standby but your scores could and usually do come out a little bit later.

You can go stand by to the ACT but get a paper application, have it filled out and get there an hour early. There will be a lot of kids walking in as this is the last chance for many.
