Im in a tough situation right now.The colleges I am looking at require a math and a science subject test. I can do math 2 but the problem is the science. Right now Im in ap Chem and physics but early in the year so we did not cover many new topics yet. It seems like the subject test has a good amount of things from ap. I did take normal chemistry and physics last year but will it be enough for the subject test? Which of the two do you think would be better to take? Also what review books do you recommend. Im thinking about taking the nov. and dec ones.

I’m in the exact situation, except only with physics (I haven’t taken ap Chem). Im applying early and the school requires either phyiscs or chem, so i can’t usemy bio sat to fill that requirement. Unfortunately, my honors physics class was a joke class so I didn’t learn many topics in depth.

I took the physics sat in October after cramming for a few days; I’m pretty sure there’s no way I got over a 700, so I’m retaking in November. It’s not too bad, but there are some questions that I had absolutely no idea how to do. You should probably take it in November so you can retake in December if you need to.

PM me if you have any more sat physics questions, I’d be happy to help. =)

Yeah last year in physics we went over mechanics in depth, a good amount in e&m and some in modern physics. But barely if anything at all on thermodynamics and waves/optics. So like 30%-40% of the test need to learn.

This can be done. My son was only in honors physics his junior year (some well-intentioned but ignorant advisor talked him out of AP), and the school he is applying to requires SAT IIs in math and science. He really liked physics, so he took the October SAT II in Math 2 and physics. He got a book to see what would be on the physics subject test, and found that there were some areas that were not covered in honors physics, so he took some time and studied on his own. He got his scores back today and got an 800 in each! It definitely wasn’t easy, and if he had to do it again, he would skip honors physics which was kind of a waste of time in favor of AP, but you can get to a good score without taking AP in school.
