Taking SAT for the 3rd time - advisable?

I'm currently in 12th. I gave it once in 11th grade, and once this October. My first time score was 2040, and the second one was 2000.

I was kind of overconfident both times - didn't study/practice a single test paper. I'm pretty sure I can do 2200 if I study this time - however is it advisable to take it again? Will it harm my chances further? If I do give it, it'll be in December since i'm giving my Subject Tests this November.

Try to practice and see how your practice scores look. If you take it a third time and still get around 2000, that will probably hurt your application. Two months is not a lot of time to improve your SAT score.

I didn’t take the sat 3 times but: if you didn’t study and got 2000, you should do what fall2016parent mentioned by taking practice tests and seeing how you perform in those. However, your 3rd time won’t hurt you (3 is actually the max). Also, if you perform much better on a specific section(s) next time, colleges can do superscoring (ONLY if they accept it as such). You also have the free will to send in the score(s) you sat for (so technically you can send in only 2 scores out of the 3 you happen to sit for and it’ll look like you did 2 sittings). Colleges know this trick…but again, you didn’t exceed the 3rd time limit so you should be fine. Just be aware though that Grad school exams simply will not let you take an exam more than once, so try to build stamina and get the things right the first time – no matter how hard that may be to your palate.

Taking the SAT 3 times is very common, you should be fine with it.

if you can get 200+ points more, then yes.

??!?!?!? you guys are crazy !!!
i took the SAT 3 times and got 1300-1400 all 3 times and got into SDSU !! lol

and my friend, got a low 1130 score(yes all 3) and he got into UCSD !!!

2000 is good !!

why would it hurt your chances!! I think getting around 2000 3 times shows you are consistent and you did not luck out on the first try.

^^ are u serius? 1130 and got into UCSD?

what is even more serious is that this person is trying to convince and fool students into thinking that consistency with scores is GOOD :stuck_out_tongue: (haha…I like that humour). It’s not good to plummet…but it is also not good to remain stagnant as well. If you remain static even after 3 tries it tells me that you are just being stubborn by A) not preparing and B) by not moving on and realizing your potential when need be. You will come across as an unpleasant candidate if you try sending off these scores for superscoring… Plus I just don’t know why a person would make themselves go through such drudgery after knowing what the consequences will come out to be.

is this person even considered a true international lol? I wonder if he/she is using the old version of SAT scale. Even if you get in with such mediocre score I assure you that your money will go down the drain as you will not be prepared to take the task that is assigned in college.
