I received a 2180 on the SAT and this was my third time taking it. The score that I achieved for each section is better than the score that I achieved for each section on either of my first two tests. Therefore, my superscore is this test.. If I take it a fourth time, I know that I will be able to improve my math score 20-40 points and my writing score 10-30 points, but it is very likely that my CR score will go down 70-80 points, because I consider the score that I achieved to be very lucky considering my past CR scores. Would it be worth it to take the test a fourth time and receive a low CR score, maybe around 610, but improve my superscore to a 2210 - 2280 or would it be better to call it quits?

It really depends on what colleges you’re looking at but I think taking it more than 3 times is a bad idea. A 2180 is a fine score anyways. And the difference between a 2180 and a 2210 is minimal anyways (although it doesn’t appear so)

You should not take it 4 times if you plan on reporting all of the sittings to any of your colleges.

However, if you plan on using score choice, then no one will know how many times you have taken it–only what you send them. So then it is up to you and how many times you are willing to sit through the test.

D took the SAT in October as a practice for the PSAT. She does not plan on sending that score in to any of her schools. She is still deciding if she will take it a 4th time.
