Taking SAT I for the first time in January Senior year???

Agreed. I was a “one and done,” but I took the test March of my junior year.

Just for the record, I surely wasn’t suggesting that OP’s plan of taking the SATs so late was a good idea. In fairness to OP, it doesn’t sound like a plan but rather a case of “stuff happened.” Even if you’ve prepared well enough, you could have the flu on the day.

My post was strictly a counterpoint to “People rarely score well enough in their first sitting for Ivy admissions.”

Here’s something helpful for those who find themselves in the same situation:
Through direct inquiry I’ve found that it is preferable for me to take the SAT IIs in December and the SAT I in January, for:

  1. a considerable portion of colleges do not mind that sort of timing of the tests;
  2. I’m currently ready for the SAT IIs, but would take as much time as within reach to prepare for the SAT I (International - Didn’t prepare much before - Gotta improve vocabulary)
    E.g.Though Duke and Berkeley don’t, MIT, Penn, Harvard, Yale AND Princeton all cater to this judgement, and I’m sure that lotsa other schools do too

ymmv by school. The best advice for all is to check the policies at EACH college to which you plan to apply. You don’t want to miss deadlines at all…ever…for anything.
