Taking SAT IIs in May vs June

I'm a junior and this May, I'll be taking the following AP tests: French Language, U.S. History, and Psychology. Now, I know that I want to take the U.S. History SAT II this spring, and I've already taken the Chem one. Because I'm thinking of applying to a school or two that requires 3 SAT IIs, I'm also deciding between taking one of the Math ones or Lit.

So, basically, here's my question. Which of these options sounds better to you?

May: Take U.S. History SAT II
June: Take one of the Math SAT IIs or Lit
And then I'm done with standardized testing

OR

May: Don't take an SAT II, focus on my APs
June: Take U.S. History
October: Take one of the Math SAT IIs or Lit

My main question, I guess, is this: should I spend April and early May focusing on my APs or would it make more sense to take the corresponding SAT II and get it over with?

Thanks!

I would say take the US history SAT II in May. The test is only a week before the AP test, so hopefully you are prepared by then. You can always take it in June as well. And, the math and lit exams just depend on how long you need to study for them, probably October since you have the summer to work on that.

Definitely correct me if I'm wrong since I was planning to do the same, but I was going to take SATIIs in May since the APs would also be at that time. I know there's some differences between the two tests, but I mean, studying for APs would certainly help with the SATIIs, right? Plus, there's so much to do later on this year, so the more you're able to free up time in Sept/Oct/Nov, the more would be put towards college apps.

See, the pro of taking the SAT II and the AP test in the same subject in the same week is that the material is mostly the same. However, the test format is different, and I'm mostly wondering whether that's big enough a deal that I should opt to give myself more time to work about it (mostly, I'm worried about the essays and DBQ).

I prefer June but it just depends on the person..

One of my friends are taking it in May because she just kinda wants to get it over with since she'll be studying for the AP exam anyways.

I wanted to take it in June because I'm afraid I won't feel prepared enough in May (I never feel prepared by AP exams haha) and it's nice to have that extra month or so to review a few concepts. Especially since classes get REALLY easy after AP exams..like extremely easy in my case, so I'll have a TON of time to study if needed. Even if I don't need it, it'll be relaxing to have all that free time instead of being really stressed out around AP exams..

Make sure you check to see if the colleges you plan to apply to require a Math Subject SAT2. I believe that some of the colleges that require 3 tests ask that one be a math SAT2. Also, I think taking the subject tests in May or June while the material is still fresh would be better than October. I would try to get all of the SAT2's out of the way this year.

Thanks for all the help, guys! I think I want to finish my testing this year, so I just have to decide whether to take USH by itself in May or with a Math one in June. I'm sort of leaning towards the latter...

I would definitely take US History in May if I were you, because it would be much easier (at least for me) to review with my class and on my own than solely the latter.

My History class isn't technically an AP class, though, so we're still actively learning stuff through June.

I think I might end up taking USH in June and not taking a Math one. Lo and behold, Yale only requires 2 SAT IIs; I was mistaken. Well, that saves me time and effort :)
