What are everyone's thoughts on taking the SAT three times?

I've heard it's ok

I've heard to shy away from doing so

I've heard it doesn't matter as long as you don't go over three?

THOUGHTS?

I've heard it's ok

I've heard to shy away from doing so

I've heard it doesn't matter as long as you don't go over three?

THOUGHTS?

It's perfectly fine. Three is pretty normal, and 4 times isn't terrible either.

it's fine... but don't expect to do sensationally better each successive time. My friends that took SAT prep after they took the test the first time only did about a hundred points better the next... just something to consider

Depends on your scores.

I've taken it twice so far and I only went up 10 total points from the first test

at the college visits ive been to they have told me do not take it more then 3 times but i think 3 is fine.

three times is a lot, but its still reasonable. Any more is bad

@patsy, while there certainly are those who don't improve much after taking SAT prep classes and such, there are those that improve a lot without studying, prepping also.

yeah- there is always a chance that you will have a bad day, or a test that really doesn't play to your strong points. I'm just saying if you plan on taking it multiple times and you've been moderately prepared and confident each time, your chances of a dazzling score increase are not that great.

So taking it three times is ok?

Is that the general consensus?

yea, there's no major problem with that... but as Patsy said, if you know you aren't going to improve much, don't bother.

3 times is good. No more

are there any negatives to taking it three times?

If you don't think you did as well as you should have, then retake it. If you feel that you did your best and are satisfied with your score, then don't retake it. simple as that. If you have taken it 3 times and still aren't sated, then you need to change your study regime. As far as the downside of taking it multiple times is concerned, it shouldn't hurt you if you either 1.Maintain your average score or 2. score higher- Scoring lower on a retake sends a bad message. Goodluck.

depends how good your score was originally.

Does it matter? They made that new rule saying you could show which score you wanted to.

it only applies to the class of 2010 and later

take it as many times as you want.

It really, really, does not matter.
