I am currently a rising senior and I've already taken the SAT three times.
I've never been too great with standardized tests so the SAT has been quite a problem for me. I'm planning on applying to UNC so I at least want a decent score.

I took it twice my sophomore year because I was applying to a private school that required me to take it. I did pretty bad....getting 1600 the first time and 1610, the second time. I regret so much taking it twice my sophomore year because now the colleges I apply to are going to see them.

I took it again in may of my junior year and got 1780. I wasn't too proud of that either. Ever since may I've been studying extensively in order to drastically improve my score because it's truly the main thing that I'm lacking in my admissions.
As far as grades go...I'm in the top five of my class and I'm covered well in the extra-curricular field.

But I was wondering if it would look bad to take it a fourth time...and I was wondering what colleges would think...but I'm at least planning to hit 1900 the next time I take it..crosses fingers

hum...i think a 4th time is okay...BUT PLZ don't go over 4...i mean i guess colleges will see that you want to get a better score and i think they'll understand...

What is important to note, however, is that colleges will not look down on you for taking the SAT multiple times. If you took it 7 times and ended up with a 2400, then they'll take your highest score. Colleges just point out, that in general, students generally don't improve much after their 2nd or 3rd time. But if you think you can do better after some serious studying, go for it.

Hmm...Ok I'm going to take your word for it "fhimas88888888". That makes me a feel a lot better. And I really am studying a lot and hoping that I'll get a much higher score..

Don't worry about taking it again, as long as you increase steadily, it won't be counted against you. Although, I think 4 times should be enough.
