Taking SATs multiple times = bad idea?

I took the SAT I for the fourth (and last) time on October 14. Is this too many times? Does anyone think this many testings will reflect badly on me during college admissions? I wasn't being obsessive or anything. It's just that every time I took the test my scores went up, so I kept trying. For example:

Test 1 (Oct. 2005): CR 800 M 640 W 790
and then Test 3 (June 2006): CR 800 M 670 W 800

I only took it the fourth time because I knew there was a good chance I could bring up the math if I prepared for it (which I never did for the first 3 times). Anyone have any experience/knowledge about this kind of thing? Advice? Anything would help.

I don't have any experience or verified knowledge about this, but I would say that as long as you can show visible improvement then it would be fine (though that is a lot of money spent).

I'm sure colleges are going to realize you are trying to bring up your math score, since your other scores are flawless. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

i know someone who had comparably good CR and W to you, at least an 800 in one of them, with lower math scores
she took the test at least 3 times, and she is now at Yale
i think you're fine.

actually on some of the schools im interested in they say that it is good to take it multiple times so that you get a better score

Yeah, I asked duke admissions about it and they said that it could actually give you a "bonus" because they combine highest scores. They said that they did not penalize kids for taking it numerous times. I took it four times as well to bring my math score up.

well, about taking the sats for the fifth time sounds waste of money, u already have really ghigh scores!!!!!!!!!!! plus + universities dont look specifically at SATs, they also look at essays, etc..... concentrate on ur essyas and finish w/ SATs

bye
