Taking summer classes at jc

i’m planning on taking some classes next month at my local jc and i was wondering if they will count for uc davis?

im taking MHIST 102 and MPSYCH-110 its us history after civil war and human sexualities and im also taking principles of Microeconomics online.

So if i pass the three classes will the 9 units be accepted my davis? is it even worth taking them?

i was also trying to take classes but for some reason the counselor at my jc said that if i took classes at a jc the summer before enrolling into a UC it will look like im a transfer student. i would have to have all the trannsfer credits in order to go to the UC. she said i can start taking classes after my first year at davis. i dont know if this is true, but thats what the counselor said.

your counselor was wrong

that cannot be the case because incoming freshmen are allowed to take English at a jc to satisfy the AWPE requirement before entering Davis

talk to a UC Davis counselor. I believe that you CANNOT take classes required for your major at a CC, but it may be by college or major

Freshman students are allowed to enroll in courses the summer after they graduate high school and before they enroll at a UC campus. However, if you will be taking a year off and wish to apply for fall 2008, for example, if you enroll at any college or university during a normal academic term; fall, winter, or spring; you are a transfer student and must meet the transfer requirements. Just make sure these are summer courses and not a short fall term and that the courses are UC transferable through http://assist.org as mentioned by collegemom16.

what if i take them the summer after my freshman year? is that allowed?

Taking college level courses after your freshman year in high school, okay. Taking courses at a different college after you freshman year at a college or university should be okay. You just want to work with an adviser to make sure the courses are transferable and are equivalent to the courses you need to complete. For the UC system, the http://assist.org will tell you which courses are UC transferable and the equivalent courses.

thanks thats a big relief
