Taking Summer Courses at Comm. College?

Hey,

If someone could please answer these questions, i would appreciate it.

What courses can i take at community college over the summer and which will count towards credit at fsu.

How does the whole process work?

Is there a specific list of courses that fsu accepts? For example if the courses i was going to take at a summer session at FSU were offered at the community college, can i take them there instead of at fsu?

-Thanks

are you in state or oos?

our s goes to fsu and we are oos. he took several college courses in high school at a local private university. Al credits transferred, we just needed to suppy official transcript and syllabus.

for in state, I believe all the Florida univeristy system accepts credits from Florida cc's.

You might want to start here Florida State University Registrar

these are gen ed requirements that all fsu students must complete before graduation. some courses you may not have to take depending upon your sat/act scores.

good luck

D is taking some gen ed math to get it out of the way this summer. Either precalc or stats or both. Here is what you need to know. It is easy to take classes for gen ed requirements at a Florida U or CC close to home.

If you will be taking summer classes anywhere other than Florida State University, you do so as a Transient Student, and you must complete a Transient Student Form. If you will be attending a State of Florida college or university, then you must submit an electronic Transient Student Form. Follow these instructions to do so…

1) Change your FACTS PIN. Go to your Blackboard > Secure Apps > FACTS PIN. Your current FACTS PIN is your 4 digit birth month and birth year. You must change your ACTS PIN to one that does not resemble a 4 digit birth month and birth year. If you your FACTS PIN last year and cannot remember it, you may call the Registrar’s Office (850-644-1050) and have them reset it.

2) Go to the website of your host school, and find their course numbers for the classes you will take.

3) Go to FACTS.org > “College Students” > “Take classes at another college (Transient Student Form)”, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Continue.” Select Florida State University as your “Home” institution, enter your student ID (SSN) and FACTS PIN/Password, then follow the instructions. Enter your host schools course numbers where prompted; we will enter the FSU equivalent. If FSU has no equivalent, you may enter it as an elective.

Once submitted, your form will be electronically forwarded for approval by your Academic Advisor, your Dean, Thagard Student Health Center, and the Registrar’s Office. If any one of these does not approve your form, it will return to you with an explanation in the comments section.

Meanwhile you need to contact the admission’s office of your host school to find out what they require from you in order for you to be admitted as a Transient Student, and to find out from them how you go about registering.

At the conclusion of the summer term, you must either formally request your host school send your official transcript to FSU, or pick up a sealed official copy from their office and hand-deliver it to FSU’s Registrar’s Office.

If you will be attending an out-of-state college/university or an in-state private college/university, then you must submit a paper version of the Transient Student Form. The official form must be picked up at the Registrar’s Office and includes carbons. A printed copy of the cover page displayed online will is also acceptable.
