Has anyone taken a language during the summer at another UC campus? Do you know if the credits transfer over to UCLA well?

Has anyone taken Intensive Summer school classes here at UCLA? Any recommendations/ warnings?

According to my counselor, in order to take a class at another UC and have it fulfill requirements, you need to pick up a petition at academic or honors counseling in Murphy. You have to say what classes you want to take, what requirements you want to meet, and there's a committee that reviews your request and let's you know whether you can take the class for the requirements (in your case, foreign language) that you want to meet. Also, he said to do it before you sign up for the class just to make sure that you're not wasting time/money on something that they won't grant. Any other questions, just ask your counselor while you're at Murphy :)

thanks a lot luckycalicoast

do you know if this petitioning process takes a long time?

Assuming CC and UC summer procedures are similar, it should be pretty easy. I just picked up two petitions today. You just tell them what course you're taking and what requirement it'll satisfy here. Also, a brief description of the class so they can evaluate (mine are on assist.org so it's simple) and turn it back in.

On Assist.org, there is no tab that links UCI and UCLA. Has anyone tried to check that up on the site?

If it's not there, then you just have to see a counselor...

Isn't it hard to coordinate summer school with other UCs like Berkeley because they are on the semester system? They're summer school classes begin while we are still finishing up..

The CC I'm going to over the summer is on a semester system too and it starts before we end (depressing...) But my CC also has different sessions that you can attend...I'm thinking other semester-system schools will have that too....
