Taking test a second time

My son got an 1810 on the SAT in Feb. 2015. Then a 29 on the ACT. He’s taking the ACT again in two weeks. He doesn’t like taking these tests. I told him if he improves his math score a little on the ACT and get an overall 30 or 31, we can forego taking the SAT again figuring his bottom ACT score will never be as low as his bottom SAT score. I’m still thinking of signing him up for the SAT and then if his ACT score is good, just not take that final SAT. I have thought of letting that 29 ride along with his 4.21 GPA. Looking for UC, CSU or a couple of privates in California. He wants computer science. Thoughts?

Is he really studying? He may not like taking these tastes, but it is a waste of money to retake if he isn’t really working at it.

He’s definitely studying. My question has more to do whether he should take the SAT again.

If his ACT is good enough, no need to focus on the SAT.
