The title really says it all. I have taken the ACT twice, and am unhappy with my score. I want to take it a third time in October, which is in my senior year.

Do colleges look down upon taking it three times? Three would be the absolute limit for me, and I am wondering if it is for colleges, as well.

I need advice. Bump!

I took it like 5 times and scored 31-32. most schools don’t care one bit, but maybe top tier schools do.

I also took it five times! I raised my score tremendously. I would say go for it. The question is whether to take it MORE than the three times.

No one knows for sure. However, I think It’s na

I should be honest that the score I am unhappy with is a 33, and that I want to retake it to get at least a point higher. My dream school is U Chicago, so I figure that being at the top of their Middle 50 range would help my application. I’m aware that I need to focus on essays, which I am. I just thought that the higher ACT would be a bit of padding.

Three’s not too bad, but I doubt a 33 vs a 34 is going to make or break your app. Spend time on essays instead!

Like you mentioned above :)

Don’t waste your time or money with another ACT test- a 33 is within the mid 50% range of every top school in the country- getting a 34 isn’t going to help admissions chances. The only way it could help is if you are looking at merit scholarships at those schools (sorry not the Ivies) that offer them, where a higher ACT score could help out.
