Taking the ACT and SAT at the same time?

Is this a bad idea? Are they similar enough in material that I can combine my studying for them?
I'm thinking about taking them in June, after my numerous AP tests are finished.

Many people do it.

I don’t see why not. Although I’d recommend you take a practice test for both, and if you score significantly higher on one, you just study for that one. Also, you may want to take the SAT and ACT earlier if you want to be able to take SAT Subject tests this June.

I’m taking both right now. I think the only thing you really need to focus on is the format of the tests, because they’re both so different. As with the specific questions, the only thing that really differs between the SAT and ACT is that there’s trigonometry on the ACT math section, and obviously the science section. The reading and writing are pretty similar, and studying for one test will not be harmful to you in any way.
