Taking the ACT in December as a senior?

I really didn't plan to take the ACT, primarily because our counselor convinced us that our school didn't offer fee waivers for the ACT, but now we magically have them. .-. Go figure.

Anyway, we can't afford the standby testing for October, and there isn't one for November, so December's really the only option--but UC applications are due by the end of November. I planned to take the SAT subject test in December, too, but I might change to November from what I hear. I was told that they'll both still count if you take them in December, so does that mean that test scores aren't due until then? Does it make you look lazy if you don't have the scores when you turn in your application? Will it hurt my chances taking it so late? I'm really unclear about the system, so any help would be great. (: Thanks.
