<p>After recently taking the GRE, I exceeded the scores I needed in AW and V but fell well below the score I need in the Q section (got a 700 and need an 800). </p>
<p>I have two questions:</p>
<ol>
<li>What is a good number of times to take the GRE? Until you get the scores you need or is more than X times bad?</li>
<li>When you take the GRE multiple times, do graduate schools average your scores, take your highest cumulative score, or choose the best score from each section?</li>
</ol>
<p>I ask because I was planning on taking the GRE in two months and devoting ABSOLUTELY NO TIME to AW or V since I already got the scores I need and devote my time ENTIRELY to preparing for Q. Is this a good approach? </p>
