i'm thinking of taking a real SAT before the PSAT 'cause I want to get some real practice to qualify for scholarships...I think I can do pretty well, maybe get a 2200. i looked on the website and it says that its perfectly legal and i still qualify for national merit...anyone have any suggestions?

nah, bruh, its actually ILLegal. the SAT police will catch you and throw you in jail, and subtract 300 points from any SAT you take in the future =O

lol…

That’s fine. In fact, it’s the only option you have if you plan to take the October SAT.

yeah, that’s the one i signed up for

You don’t tell your grade level, so…

Make SURE to take the PSAT as a Junior (some schools offer it as a sophomore, and that is fine as practice, but it does not count toward NM so make sure you take it, again if applicable, as a JUNIOR). And I think home schoolers are complex so read the NM site if you are a home schooler.

But, then, if you do well on the PSAT, you have more steps in order to make it to finalist. One of those steps is to have a comparable (who knows what that is, exactly) SAT. And THAT qualifying SAT must be taken within a certain time limit. I forget exactly, but you can look at the NM site and, right now it still lists the requirements for the class of 2009. I think they can have taken the qualifying SAT maybe a year prior to the SAT.

Example, my daughter took the SAT first as an 8th grader, but qualified through a talent search program to take it as a 6th grader. Those tests would NOT be acceptable as the supporting SAT score needed for NM. But, she took it as a Junior, in October, exactly same time she took the PSAT. And THAT score does qualify.

So, yes it can be earlier. But there is a time limit. Of course you could ALWAYS take it again later. Good luck.

yeah that’s what i’m doing too
