Hey all, I'm planning on taking the SAT for my first time next year. I want to know who thinks the SAT is easier than the ACT or vice-versa, and why? My school, along with everyone i know is VERY ACT oriented. Everyone in my school has a mediocre PSAT score, i think the highest was a 207 this year. We also don't have very high ACT scores but usually each year we max out with a few people having a 32, and the highest ever was a 33. So, what's the general consensus?

I think the general consensus among my peers is that the ACT is an easier test, with easier content. I, somehow, beg to differ - I feel more comfortable with the SAT. I guess for me, the ACT pitfall would be the science section that can just kill an otherwise great composite score. But if you learn time management and take a couple practice tests, the ACT might prove easier.

I have heard from one or two people that a good SAT score looks better than a good ACT score.

It’s much easier to do very well on the ACT than the SAT for most people. Plus, a 36 composite on the ACT isn’t necessarily a “perfect score”. You can get your individual subject scores to average out to 35.5 and you’ll get a composite 36… a 2400 on the SAT, meanwhile, is more rare, as you can only miss three questions or so on the entire thing to get a perfect score.
